About the tour:
We invite you to see the interactive exhibition of the Folk Music Branch which presents two main themes: kanklės (chordophone) playing tradition in various regions of Lithuania and the culture of shepherding and sutartinės (Lithuanian multipart songs). During the tour, you will have an opportunity to try out an interactive activity – sutartinės karaoke. You will be able to listen to audio recordings, get acquainted with the tradition of playing old Lithuanian folk music and its contemporary trend – post-folklore.
You will also see the international instruments that caught on in Lithuania – pump organ, garmon, zither, cimbalom, bagpipe, violin, bass violin, etc. You will have an opportunity to listen to an old vinyl played on the old gramophone.
