About the activity

Pentecost is the celebration of the start of shepherding season. And do you know what shepherding is? Why was it that every child used to be a shepherd? What kind of work did they have to learn to do? How do you tie a goat up by the horn? What can you use to make a trumpeting sound to make the animals come out of the fields by themselves, and when should you use it?

During this activity, you will find out what cheerful singing and other useful skills a child had to acquire to be able to manage a flock of chickens or geese, or to defend themselves from the neighbour’s angry rooster.

This activity can be adapted for families.
